Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week they have a different theme for bloggers to post their Top Ten. This week’s theme is New To Me authors BUT…I’m going to be doing a different theme today.
The holidays really kicked my butt there! Who knew it was basically impossible to read and blog 24/7 when your friends and family are in town and want you to do things?! LIKE WHAT KIND OF PERSON GOES OUT AND DOES THINGS EVERY SINGLE DAY? That’s just so MUCH.
Anyway I feel like maybe I’ve recovered enough to do a blogging thing, but I feel like it would be more appropriate if I did my own theme, so in no particular order, may I present to you ….
BOOKS I STARTED IN 2017 BUT DIDN’T FINISH!
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
Whoops. I know. Me, the girl who discovered Sarah J. Maas only last year and let her rule my entire world, who would follow SJM to the very end, into the very fires of Mordor, could not finish her latest book. I always thought Chaol was super boring and barely tolerated him when he was surrounded by my babes. But ESPECIALLY NOW when he’s off on his own and I know all my babes are on the other side of the world GOING THROUGH SOME DRAMMAAAAAAA. I just don’t have time for him. PAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSS.
Unfortunately I’ll probably have to give it another read because I’ve been told his story will come into play with the rest of the gang.
Through The Ever Night: Under The Never Sky Veronica Rossi
Maybe I just didn’t try hard enough with this but quite honestly I can’t even tell you what this was about. I finished the first one and I recall thinking the plot was basic and predictable and I didn’t like the characters? But I don’t…know what happened so. MEH.
A Strange Hymn: The Bargainer Book 2 – Laura Thalassa
Yeah….noooo. She turned scaly or something? I DON’T KNOW. But it wasn’t worth my time so I stopped reading it.
Hidden Huntress by Danielle L. Jensen
After I finished ACOTAR and Throne of Glass series I was basically drifting from book to book trying to find something else to suck me in. The first two of this series were just…something to read. They were predictable and the characters were annoying but it was fine to go through it, but the ending of this book (which you can see coming for miles in any direction) was not enough to convince me I needed to spend my time reading the last one. So. MOVED ON TO THE NEXT THING.
Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
This was actually my first ARC and I really enjoyed it! I got about halfway through it but other books took precedent and I haven’t been able to get back to it yet. I will though because it’s good, this is just one of the books where life took over and stopped me from reading it instead of me just getting bored and giving up!
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I’m not sure what happened here, I got halfway through the book but I can’t tell you what it’s about or any of the character names. This is the problem with audiobooks sometimes I fall asleep or zone out and I’ll finish a book with no idea what happened. Clearly a recurring problem I need to fix.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
This one bums me out the most. I know so many of you love it and I’ve tried maybe four different times this year to get into it and I just can’t. BUT the good news is I will never stop trying. FIFTH TIMES THE CHARM! I will finish Six of Crows this year!
