The Romance Package

I feel like I stepped off a building and fell into a swarming vortex that transported me to the land of ROMANCE BOOKS?!

I have somehow managed to read thirteen – NOPE I LIED IT’S FIFTEEN – romance books in the last week.

Why? WHY DID I DO THIS? Well. I am sure there are many reasons to explain my actions but the gist of it is that Audible has some sort of Romance Package that they THRUST into my face with their steaminess meter and I get swept up in the ridiculous titles and followed the shirtless book-covers down the rabbit hole into EroticaLand!

The summaries always get me, they’re all:

“Blah blah blah was the LAST thing I expected when blah blah blah happened! What were the chances I’d see him again? OR THAT HE’D BE BLAH BLAH BLAH.”

And I’m like well, what a pickle we’ve found ourselves in…I wonder how we’ll get out of this one? I DON’T KNOW BUT I’LL BE DAMNED IF I’M NOT GONNA FIND OUT.

It’s like watching Gilligan’s Island. I KNOW Gilligan is gonna fuck shit up…but I need to know HOW.

However I think I’ve hit my limit because I’ve discovered a problem with the genre.
We’re all just bumbling along, having a great sexy time and then out of nowhere BAM!

And if that doesn’t just bum me OUT! And sometimes it’s like the book is bending over backwards to really SURPRISE me with it!

It’s probably because I got stuck with one author group, but they really should give you a warning! Here I am, thinking we’re gonna have a nice time with this rich guy and then out of nowhere I’ve got all this responsibility!! Like what I gotta deal with this baby now?! NoooOOO. That’s the OPPOSITE of what we’re doing here, Romance Novel! GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME.

Meanwhile I have two actual book reviews to write that I’ve been putting off for like a month and I will hopefully have them out this week. At the very least I need to get back to my ever growing TBR of YA Novels.

I think I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled programming soon, I got a bit of a wake-up call this afternoon while reading because the author decided it was a good idea to drop a “WE MIGHT BE SIBLINGS” storyline into the mix.

So…that’s why I’ve basically been neglecting my book blogger responsibilities. Happens to the best of us, right?!Β

  1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Ahahahahahaha!! Oh my god, is this all my fault?!? I remember I mentioned the romance package on one of my Top Ten Tuesday posts and you asked about it in the comments. I feel like I should be sorry for sending you down a romance book hell spiral, but I’m really not. WELCOME TO MY WORLD.

Isn’t it so awesome?! And terrible because it’s consuming our lives. But mostly awesome!?! You can listen to as many as you want without credits! I LOVE IT!!! I want them to do this with other genres. Fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction–I WILL PAY FOR IT ALL. GIVE ME MORE AUDIOBOOKS FOREVERRRR!

    1. It is 10000000% your fault for telling me about the Romance Package!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would LOOOOVE for them to do this with all genres! With a similar inventory system. I love how they’ve put them all into different categories. SO EASY TO FIND NEW BOOKS!

  2. Love this post!! I too have been binging some serious romance stuff lately and its always funny because the covers are all hot shirtless guys and the blurbs are all variations of the same thing… yet I find myself almost obsessively reading them?!?! Like what? Great post (I hope more romance reads are in your future) πŸ™‚

    1. Right?! Once I’ve seen the cover I’m basically a goner, like a moth to a stupid sexy flame!
I’d like to SAY I’m done with the romance reads because they take me away from my already ridiculously long TBR, but who am I kidding. Of course they’re still happening πŸ˜‚
