Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by
That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week is a different theme for bloggers to post their Top Ten. This week’s theme is a freebie so it’s my Favorite Shows of 2018! It’s a mix of 2018 Premieres, Shows I started in 2018, and just Shows I Still Love!
(I watch a lot of TV soooo double trouble we’re at Top Twenty Tuesday!)
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
She-Ra came into my life at the exact right time and filled me with so much hope and love! Plus it doesn’t hurt that all the dude-bros are upset about the new character designs, which honestly just makes me love it harder.
The Bold Type
The show is about these three best friends who work at a magazine, but I didn’t realize how good it would feel to watch a show where the older, successful Boss Bitch wasn’t actually a Bitch. And instead she mentors and cares about these young girls with kindness. It’s upsetting what a rare find that is in media!
Why is everyone STILL sleeping on this show?! It’s not getting half the amount of love it deserves.
Can you believe?! Queer Eye only came out THIS YEAR. That’s how long this year has been. Wow.
I did not expect to like this show at all, the trailers made it look so generic. I was really surprised though! I love the style it’s shot in. The dialogue is SO sharp and hilarious and the characters are ridiculous! Definitely one of the funniest shows I watched this year.
The 100 used to be my favorite show, the first two seasons are spectacular! But the last couple seasons have been a HOT MESS and suffered some seriously lazy writing. This last season was some of the most exciting storytelling they’ve done in a while, can’t wait to see what comes from it!
This is such a fun show to watch, especially right now that I’m trying to get a job in publishing! Though IDK why we even have to bother with Charles when Josh is RIGHT THERE.
Visual stunning. Naked Joel Kinnaman. Edgar Allen Poe Sentient Hotel.
Santa Clarita Diet
This show continues to be a delight! Absolute relationship goals with these two having the ideal supportive marriage.
The Marvelous Ms. Maisel
I haven’t watched the second season yet so no spoilers! The first season is smart and funny and makes me feel pretty happily smug to be living in New York.
Thank you NBC for giving us a finale movie in a few weeks. But also How DARE YOU for cancelling it in the first place. It was just hitting it’s stride, too!
Brooklyn Nine Nine
One of my all time favorite shows to watch when I need a pick-me-up! I was devastated for that one day it got cancelled! Can’t wait to see what the 99 gets up to on NBC!
Another one of my Go-To shows that always make me happy! I hope there are a thousand more episodes and they never stop streaming.
The Good Place
There is nothing to say about The Good Place that hasn’t already been said. I love how every season reinvents itself and this season gave me my #1 new term of endearment, which is “Chili Babies”. Scoop your little mittens right in the stew!
I love the way this show deals with “Issue” plots, like healthcare or cultural appropriation. They never feel like its white people with hot takes, more like actual POC coming up with the jokes. Which makes it seem like it’s punching up, instead of down and it’s so much funnier.
This show is so endearing!! After I watch even an episode I slip into a Moira Rose accent for days! I think it’s charming, not sure what my friends think.
For years I rolled my eyes at this so and very adamentaly was NOT going to watch it. Isn’t it fun to look back on how stupid you were in your youth?! Happy family! (Except Brandon who is…so lame)
Queen of the South
OOOOOOh girl I got a TYPE. I may be so into this show because the main guy strongly resembles my Husband from The 100, Bob Morley. But it’s also just really intense, and I could never watch just one episodes. It’s like the very definition of bingeable tv.
You’re the Worst
I am honestly mad it took me so long to watch this show, someone should have told me sooner! The depiction of what it’s like to have depression is so real. Like I feel SEEN. Plus all the Ben Folds stuff is hysterical.
I’m still super bummed this one got cancelled. It only had two seasons and was still finding its legs when it got cut down! Nicole Richie was shockingly incredible, and I hope she finds another role just as perfect.
Okay, that’s it! Well….some of it. I watch a LOT of TV 🤣
TALK TO ME! Do you watch any of these shows? What are your favs from 2018?
